In the airport. Literally in transit.
Hello all!
This is my first post written on my iPod, so I'm not sure how well it will go. Anyway, I've met everyone from my group as well as everyone from the other Mozambique group who are going to namputo. Well, I'll clarify, do far I've only met the Canadians. we're currently in the Toronto Pearson airport off to London! Everyone is super nice. I'm soo happy:) we have really bonded well. The long learning days are really interesting, for example today we had a lesson on sexual harassment, but for sure my favourites were the Portuguese lessons and when we had 2 past Participants come - one who went to inhambane and the other who went to namputo. We had the choice to listen to the other city person's story, and I was surprised when I was the only person who went to both.
So everything is great! I took my first anti-malery pill today!
Talk to you later, either in London, Nairobi.. But most likely not until somewhere in Mozambique. I think we have another couple of preparation days when we first get there.
Hope all is well,
Tay

Last post in Kingston.
Well, tomorrow I'm off to big ol' T.O.
I now officially have my itinerary for how I'm getting to Mozambique:
From Mozambique to Whitehorse, Yukon.
08OCT Maputo 07h30 Nampula 09h35
08OCT Nampula 13h00 Nairobi 16h30
08OCT Nairobi 23h45 London 06h45 (09OCT)
09OCT London 13h35 Calgary 15h50
09OCT Calgary 17h00 Whitehorse 18h44
Soo, Ms. Taylyn will . . .
a) be in London the first day of the London Summer Olympics, for 7 hours and 25 mins (approx). Which, I feel 2 ways about. One, It will be overcrowded and there will for sure be soo much security and I'll even go out on a limb here and say that it would also be ideal for a bombing attack. just sayin'.
Two, THIS IS AWESOME! I'll be able to say that I was in the same city as the 2012 Summer Olympics. I'll be literally only a matter of kilometres away from Billions and Billions of dollars spent on people showing off their amazing muscular and physical talents. Waaaay cool.
b) be spending one day in KENYA. Yes, for those of you who didn't know; Nairobi is in Kenya. I'm stoked for this. When I was originally applying for CWY I was like.. I want to go to Kenya! And there we have it folks, I will stay 11 hours and 20 minutes (approx) in Kenya! WOOT.
On a side note - I didn't end up going to Canada's Wonderland. Oh well, that adventure has been left for another day. Also, I spent the last 2 days at the Stewart Park Festival in Perth! It was amazing!
I slept at a friends house last night, and she and her family have just been blessed/cursed with 20 newly born kittens. They have 26 cats in their house. No kidding. I counted this morning. One litter of 5, one litter of 7, one litter of 2, and two litters of 3, plus 6 more grown up cats (the parents, obvi.).
So, here's to my last night in K-Town. I once had an orderly carry-on bag, but now it's all over the floor under my desk. Clean up time/Pack up time.
Hope everyone is dandy,
xx Tay

DUKORAL
The time has come, the walrus said, to talk of many things..
TWO WEEKS UNTIL MY FLIGHT!
You know what that means? First dose of Dukoral.
Not going to lie, it's pretty icky! :(
I have to not eat/drink anything an hour before, and not eat/drink for an hour after. No problem, because I had it when I woke up, and I'm not hungry generally this summer.
So, the numbers slowly decrease. I can count the days until I meet my fellow CWY people on my toes.
9 days.
Technically 8 days until I go to Toronto though, because it's now in the plans to go the day before and stay with my uncle and cousins:)
..This post was really just about the Dukoral, which is not tasty, but in every other sense, it is very much symbolic!
Take care,
Hope all is well,
xx, Tay

TWO WEEKS UNTIL TORONTO!
Just 14 days. Holy camoly!
Well.. like 19 until the flight.
I can't believe how supportive people have been!
Since my last post I've pretty much done most of the shopping needed. I think all that's left is getting the first aid kit all together, and buy some sunglasses and sandals.
I had a lot of fun getting skirts and shirts at value village. You never know what you're going to find there.
Last night was a retirement party at my house for a good friend of ours, and about 50 people were there, so I told quite a few people about my adventures! :)
I'm thinking about doing some sort of fundraiser where I make Mozambican food, but time is running out and I'm not sure where I'd have it and so on, so that probably won't happen.
My days are getting pretty busy. I'm going to Canada's Wonderland on Wednesday!
I'm SO EXCITED. I've never been before.
That's the newest update for Taylyn's life.
Hope all is well,
xx, Tay

Before I go.
According to my calculations, there are 20 days until I leave Kingston (July 23rd), which means less than 3 weeks to pack.
From Kingston, I go to Toronto until July 28th, which is when the airplane leaves the ground, and eventually, after what I imagine would be at least one layover, I will finally arrive in Mozambique.
I'll be staying there for about 2 and a half months, and then back to Canada, far away from home in Whitehorse, until the middle of December.
I'm really looking forward to this!
I just brought the backpack into the study where a lot of the things I'm bringing are laying about.
To think, I only found out 15 days ago!
I just got one of my last shots/vaccinations, and my arm is a little sore.
My gut feeling is that keeping this blog up to date will be impossible, because I'll be writing in my journal anyway, and who knows when I'll have internet, but... here goes nothing!
I hope all is well,
xx Tay
